Phnom Penh , Cambodia
The course weaves through a landscape dominated by large lakes that set up wide, expansive views . Although the lakes are a dominate feature, there was a strong effort to not create too many water shots in play off the tee as the intention was to create a “find your ball “ experience with generous landing areas while still demanding execution of proper shots, especially into the greens.
I think golfers will find the greens here to be large and demanding with a lot of movement, especially on the interior with elevation change and transition slopes. Golfers will experience a wide variety of holes, with individual characteristics so that there are memorable features to each. “We’re aiming to make the two courses as different as possible,” said Curley. “The East offers a much more traditional take on design with formal bunkering while the West will be more rugged and natural.” The project is requiring significant earthmoving, with Curley preferring massive landforms over small-scale mounding, to create a more natural golf experience. |
